8 skin care tips for the autumn season

As temperatures start to cool, weather changes can dramatically affect your skin. Colder temps and increased use of indoor heating draw moisture from the air and from your skin. To avoid irritation, your daily skincare habits must adapt to the changing weather. Here are some steps you can take during autumn to protect your skin and maintain a healthy appearance over the next few months.

1. Use a gentle cleanser.

Washing your face twice a day with a mild soap that won’t irritate your face is a simple and easy way to maintain healthy skin, but make sure to use a mild cleanser that won’t wash away protective oils and irritate your face.

RENUAdvanced® Gentle Refining Cleanser tones and hydrates skin as it gently washes away impurities like dirt and oil. It leaves skin looking and feeling younger by promoting healthy skin renewal.

2. Use a daily moisturizer

Flaky, dry skin can clog pores and cause any already existing acne to worsen. Using a daily moisturizer to nourish your skin will help keep it hydrated and soothe it during the colder months.

RENUAdvanced® Ultra Replenishing Moisturizer delivers deep hydration and anti-aging actives for a visibly youthful, vibrant appearance. This moisturizer visibly enhances skin elasticity and firmness, reducing the appearance and depth of lines and wrinkles.

3. Make sure to use sunscreen

Even in autumn’s overcast conditions, sun damage is always a concern. The predominant cause of premature aging and skin cancer is damaging UV rays. Sunscreen is the best defense against skin damage, no matter the time of year.

4. Use a humidifier

Adding moisture back to your home will add moisture to your skin. It also helps keep dryness out of your throat, airways and helps avoid cracked lips and irritated eyes.

5. Regularly exfoliate

Dead skin cells build up with drier skin and can form a barrier that keeps moisture from penetrating deeper in the skin. Using an exfoliator on your skin before applying your ASEA RENUAdvanced® Ultra Replenishing Moisturizer can help your face look much smoother and will help to moisturize more effectively.

6. Use a serum

Serums are topical gel products containing concentrated active molecules that penetrate the skin’s surface for optimum absorption, which helps tremendously with keeping your skin healthy. Due to higher concentration, it takes a shorter amount of time to see results. Because it delivers active ingredients to the skin, it’s best to put it on before your moisturizer.

RENUAdvanced® Intensive Redox Serum is an ultra-concentrated anti-aging gel designed to revitalize and support skin renewal using patented redox signaling molecules to keep your cells communicating and your skin healthier.

7. Prioritize a healthy diet

It can be tempting to indulge in holiday comfort foods lacking the nutrition of protein, vegetables, and fruits. Avoid a diet made up of refined carbs and foods with a high glycemic index which can cause hormones to spike and cause acne and other damaging skin conditions. Drinking plenty of water will help keep your skin hydrated from the inside out and keep that moisturized glow.

8. Wear proper clothing and gear

Your wardrobe can make a massive difference in guarding your skin against drying out. Sun-protective clothing is a great way to block damaging UV rays, and breathable wind-blocking layers help your skin’s moisture barrier. Darker colors absorb more UV rays, while lighter and brighter colors reflect them.

As you venture outdoors for sporting events, festivals, and holiday celebrations, make sure to keep your health in mind. You don’t want to miss out on some of the year’s most enjoyable activities and weather by not protecting yourself and your skin health.
